The Kaufman/Goun Trail begins off Old Gordon Road in Brentwood, New Hampshire, at a trailhead marked by a white “No Vehicles” sign on a tree. From the entrance, the route winds through mixed hardwood forest on mostly flat terrain, with short stretches of gentle elevation change. Hikers should pay close attention to the network of forks and interconnecting segments—especially near the southern and northeastern junctions—as the trail layout can be confusing without a GPS or map.
The route passes a few distinctive landmarks, including a historic stone wall near the southern fork and an electrified horse pasture visible along the eastern segment. A small stream crossing along the southwestern branch may appear after recent rain but is not a reliable water source. This is a quiet area ideal for hiking, snowshoeing, or skiing in winter, and biking or horseback riding outside of muddy season. The forested setting and limited signage make this an enjoyable, low-impact day route for those prepared to navigate.
