The Valley Lane Town Forest Trails begin at the end of Valley Lane in Kingston, offering a scenic network of easy to moderate hiking routes through old forest and wetland terrain. The main Red Trail forms a wide loop that explores much of the forest, passing a small but scenic waterfall and pool near the Brian Quinlan Memorial Bridge. Shortly after beginning the Red Trail, hikers can take the narrower Blue Trail for a shorter loop that reconnects further along the Red. The Orange and White Trails branch off as short spurs, providing alternate views of wetlands and a historic cellar hole hidden in the woods.
Several stream crossings occur throughout the forest, especially on the Red and Blue Trails. While typically manageable, these may become slippery or flooded during spring runoff or after heavy rain. The terrain includes rolling hills and occasional roots or rocks, but remains approachable for most hikers. This quiet network is ideal for short day hikes near southern New Hampshire, especially for those looking to explore local conservation land with natural and historical interest.
