The route begins at the trailhead kiosk near the barn off Chapin Street in Uxbridge, MA, on land managed by The Trustees of Reservations. From the parking area, follow the red-blazed Albee Trail through open meadow and into mixed hardwood forest, bearing left at the y-intersection. This section winds past stone walls and scattered boulder fields before curving west into denser woods. Intermittent streams, including Meadow Brook and Still Corner Brook, may be flowing depending on recent rainfall.
At a marked junction, turn left onto the blue-blazed Homestead Trail, which loops back toward the Albee Trail. This stretch passes the ruins of an early farmstead—visible from the trail—and gradually transitions back to open terrain near the restored barn. While the terrain is generally easy, sections can become muddy or slick after rain. Blazes may be obscured by leaf cover in some areas, so carry a map or GPS for clarity. Dogs are welcome off leash if under voice control, and hikers should wear bright clothing during hunting season. This mellow, year-round route offers a scenic mix of forest, meadow, and local history—ideal for a casual walk or short day hike in the Blackstone Valley.
