There and Back
This route begins at the parking area east of Rice City Pond along Hartford Avenue in Uxbridge. Head north along King Phillip’s Trail through the woodlands of Blackstone River & Canal Heritage State Park. This section parallels the river on mostly level terrain and weaves through a mix of floodplain forest and upland sections. Keep left at all junctions and make a final brief climb to the top of Lookout Rock.
An alternate, shorter option begins from Quaker Street, joining the main route shortly before the final ascent. The last climb involves a short, steep scramble—use caution, especially in wet or icy conditions. At the top, hikers are rewarded with sweeping views across the Blackstone River valley from a rocky promontory perched high above the treetops.
