Trail Overview

The canyon is a spectacular sight, and one of the best nature attractions in Northeast Wyoming. The road that winds through the canyon is lined with steep cliffs on both sides and immense boulders. Crazy Woman Canyon Road is approximately 13 miles long and follows Crazy Woman Creek through the canyon from Highway 16 down the eastern slope of the Bighorn Mountains .The road is narrow and rugged, therefore, a high clearance vehicle is highly recommended. This road may become impassible when wet.

Trail was open all the way through. The bridge appears to be brand new, still smells of creosote. Beautiful trail.

Started off 16 and headed down the canyon. Beautiful drive. Met a few vehicles coming at me, but there was room to pull to the side to allow passing. Make sure to pay your respects to Mr Cross.

Dirt/gravel road in good condition. Narrow in places, dusty today. Winding with some sharp curves in the Canyon. Lots of traffic, from 4 wheelers to side by sides to pickups to sedans. I see no issues as long as it's dry. Generally downhill eastbound following Crazy Woman Creek. Wide open grassland pasture on the east end outside the

This trail is a 1/10 difficulty. Perfectly navigable even in a 2WD sedan. Flat, graded gravel road. Some areas of the road are only one car-width wide, but there are ample pull-outs for passing oncoming cars. Trailers are not recommended due to the narrow road width and some tight turns. There are 10+ dispersed campsites along the road. The campsites are unmarked, but not hard to find drive slow and look for the pull-offs. There was a lot of OHV and vehicle traffic while we’re there, which made the campsite fairly noisy during the day. But the road quiets down a lot at night.
