Circle Cut Across

From Highway 16, turn onto Circle Park Road, then turn left toward South Clear Creek. When the road forks, take the right-hand route. If you’re adding this trail to South Clear Creek to create a longer loop, take the same right turn at the fork. This variation is much more challenging, especially when weather affects the road. Do not drive after heavy rain or while raining; it can cause heavy erosion. The trail begins with an inclined climb over loose rock. Four-wheel drive and high clearance are strongly recommended. The trail is mellow and opens into a beautiful marshy meadow. The route continues to mellow out after the initial climb, with only occasional embedded rocks and ruts along an otherwise chill dirt road. Dispersed camping options line the route. Continue toward the end for more scenic views and that amazing feeling of being far back in the mountains. The trail ends near a cabin with a small turnaround close to the property. There is also a beautiful dispersed campsite beside the river shortly before the end, which provides a nicer place to turn around.
