Trail Overview
Sokagon Chippewa ATV/ UTV Trail, India Route 10, is an ATV/ SxS trail that navigates from the trail's intersection with India Route 10 to the trail's intersection with County Road B. This trail begins as a wide open two-lane gravel road; after 1 mile of traveling north, the trail transitions into a narrow two-track trail. The trail surface for the remainder of the trail is mostly dirt with some loose silt/sandy sections located throughout, as well as several areas where small rocks protrude through the trail surface. Several locations along this portion of the trail can wash out after heavy rain, leaving moderate-sized ruts in the trail. This portion of the trail is just over one vehicle wide and will require almost all vehicles to slow down or come to a stop to allow for safe passage. The scenery around this trail is dominated by mature trees that hug the rolling landscape. Lookout views from this trail are limited due to the growth of the surrounding forests, but some spots do open up for a short period of time to allow for moderate views. This trail is entirely located on the Sakagon Chippewa Community land, so be sure to respect the community and stay on the marked trail. Cell service in this area is only usable at the trail's endpoints. Once the trail enters the woods, signals are very weak. Traveling with downloaded maps is a must.
Difficulty
This trail has several small obstacles but nothing that will be too challenging for any level of rider. Washouts and rocks that protrude through the trail's surface help make it a bumpier ride than other trails. The trail width and blind corners are this trail's hardest features, both of which are solved by reduced speed and remaining on the right side of the trail. Small mud puddles are possible and will typically be under 6 inches in depth.
