Trail Overview
Tower Road is a multi-use county forest road that navigates from its intersection with Cole Lane to its intersection with Highway 8 and the Highway 8 ATV/ SxS trail. This trail is a semi-maintained gravel road that ranges in width from two vehicles to one vehicle wide. The trail is very stable and firm, with only a small chance of developing water spots or ruts. However, the likelihood of washboard sections is much greater. These will typically appear around corners or inclines on the trail. It navigates through a hilly section of Forest County. This allows the trail to have several areas with rolling elevation changes, as well as a couple of lookout areas thanks to the elevation and some recent clearings in the forest. The Wolf River Lookout can be hiked to and explored from this trail. The tower is not climbable and is closed to the public but is still present. The site can be seen where the tower was operated until 2015. Cell service in this area is generally good but can be slower in the summer months due to the increased demand on towers. Having downloaded maps can be useful if unfamiliar with the area.
Difficulty
This trail can be navigated by riders of all experience levels. The trail is wide enough for two vehicles in most locations, and thanks to the dense surface type will not challenge any vehicle type. Sight lines on the trail are good to excellent. Being a gravel/ sand trail, this can lead to excessive dust and washboards created in times of drought.
