Trail Overview
Forest Service Road 2283 is a moderately maintained gravel road that navigates from its intersection with FS 2336 and Saul Springs Road to its intersection with FS 2122. This trail is wide enough for two vehicles to safely navigate past each other in most areas. However, the dense trailside and undergrowth in the surrounding forest can make it difficult to see in some areas. This is a smooth gravel road that navigates across mild rolling hills and has many long sweeping corners. At the southern end of the trail, as well as in a few other locations, the South Branch of the Oconto River can be seen. This trail is shared with ATV and SxS traffic, so be sure to be aware of all surroundings. Cell service in this area is very spotty and does not work for some carriers. It is best to always travel with downloaded maps. This area has a large snowmobile trail presence in the winter months. While there are some roads within the forest that do not have sled traffic, it is best to avoid them in the winter months as navigation can be challenging or not allowed.
Difficulty
This trail can be completed by riders of all experience levels. The trail is wide enough for two vehicles in most locations; however, sight lines in and around some corners can be challenging due to the undergrowth in the surrounding forest. Like any gravel forest road, washboards can be expected from time to time, especially around corners or by hills. Also, after recent storms, there is the possibility for small branches or debris to make its way onto the trail.
