Trail Overview

FS 2162 navigates from its intersection with FS 2159 to its intersection with Highway 139. This trail is a gentle rolling forest road that is moderately maintained. This forest road is wide enough for two vehicles throughout most of its length. It has a smooth gravel base which holds up well in most conditions but can exhibit washboarding around hill sides and corners, and can create large amounts of dust in dry spells. The scenery around this trail and area is made up of small rolling hills, with the occasional large hill. The trees around the trail are a good mix of hard and softwood, depending upon what part of the trail is being navigated. There is a good amount of undergrowth located in the forest as well as on the trail side. This can obstruct views both through the forest as well as of oncoming traffic on some of the trail's sharper corners. This trail is an excellent place to start or end the day since it can be directly accessed from Highway 139. The difficulty of the trail is unaffected by the direction traveled. Cell service in this area is acceptable for small tasks but can limit larger tasks. Downloaded maps of the region are never a bad idea.

Difficulty

This trail can be completed by riders of all experience levels. The trail is wide enough for two vehicles in most locations; however, sight lines in and around some corners can be challenging due to the undergrowth in the surrounding forest. Like any gravel forest road, washboards can be expected from time to time, especially around corners or by hills. Additionally, after recent storms, there is the possibility for small branches or debris to make their way onto the trail.
