Trail Overview
Chickadee Road - FS 2102 is a well-maintained forest road that runs from Bucks Ranch Road, traveling north to south to County Rd F. The trail surface is loose gravel, which is typically graded a handful of times a year. This helps to reduce the washouts, ruts, and washboard within the trail, making this a very easily drivable trail for anyone. The trail has many small winding corners, as well as a good amount of rolling hills, helping to keep the navigation experience enjoyable. The section of national forest that this trail travels through is known for its large, remote hills. All around this trail, these can be seen, but they can be harder to see in peak summer months due to the foliage. The foliage surrounding the trail is a good mix of pines, as well as maturing and maturing hardwoods. There are ferns and other plants that grow along the trail side, with the occasional blackberry and raspberry patch. Cell service in this region is generally good and is typically only slowed in peak summer months when there is increased traffic in the area.
Difficulty
This trail can be completed by all experience levels of riders. The trail is well-maintained by the local towns. Due to the loose gravel, certain parts of the trail can easily push vehicles around during times of extreme drought. In addition, this can also create a considerable amount of dust. The trail has great visibility throughout, as well as semi-maintained ditch lines that could be used to pull off.
