Trail Overview

Van Zandt - 34 is a 1.4-mile out-and-back route open to street-legal vehicles. This single-lane gravel road travels through Washington DNR land, and a Discover Pass is required to recreate in the area. The road surface remains in good condition with only a few potholes, but dense vegetation quickly closes in on the roadway. Expect a very narrow drive with heavy brush encroachment, numerous low-hanging branches, and a high likelihood of pinstriping before reaching a small turnaround at the end of the route.

Difficulty

Van Zandt - 34 is rated easy. The road itself presents few technical challenges, but the heavy overgrowth creates a narrow driving corridor with frequent contact from branches. Drivers should expect significant pinstriping, particularly in the final portion of the route. Most high-clearance vehicles should have little difficulty under normal conditions.
