Trail Overview
This is a 5.4 mile long section of single track that is mostly easy, with a couple moderate obstacles. The east end of the trail starts off with some narrow and shelfy sections above the Blowout Creek, with a couple wooden bridge crossings. The trail continues through several meadows where the trail is narrow and smooth, or easy flat sections just meandering through the woods. There are sections with rocks and roots, but it remains mostly easy and gradual for the first half of the trail. There is a water crossing through the North Fork Little Naches River about half way through the route. The river is shallow, but the exit from the creek was steep and rutted. The west half of the trail becomes steeper, and there was one large root obstacle that made it more of a moderate difficulty because it was blunt, dug out, and steep. The last half mile of the trail is the steepest and hardest part of the trail, with a few hairpin turns and rockier, looser terrain. However, you can bail out on a logging road before the last mile of trail if you want to avoid the harder terrain. This trail is popular in the trail system, as it is easily accessible from the many staging areas and camp sites along Little Naches Road. It is dusty, and you will likely see other riders, especially on busy weekends. Downfall was cut on the trail by early summer time.
Difficulty
The majority of this trail is easy, with only a few narrow sections and tight maneuvers through the trees. However, there was one larger root obstacle, one shallow, but rutted river crossing, and one steep climb on the west end of the trail. These features make it more of an intermediate route, although all of the obstacles are low consequence and not overly difficult, making it an ideal route for newer riders to still attempt, but also fun for more experienced riders as well.
