Trail Overview

This forest road starts off as gravel, then transitions to dirt and gets narrow. The trail becomes a one-lane shelf road with drop-offs and few places to pass. The trail gradually climbs approximately 1,400 feet in elevation and ends at a large campsite. There are switchbacks, and the final push to the top is an 11% pitch with some loose rock. As you get closer to the top, the vegetation is a little overgrown and makes the trail narrower. You have some of the best views in the area from the top of this trail, viewing the mountains of the North Cascades and Goat Peak. You can even see the Goat Peak Lookout Tower. Cell service is weak, and there are no amenities along the trail. The closest services and supplies are in the town of Mazama, approximately 40 minutes away. Any vehicle type should be able to traverse this trail.
