Trail Overview
This forest road begins as gravel and is wide with heavy washboard sections. There are minor ruts and wash along the trail, and two large washout areas that have been patched but are rough. A high clearance 4x4 is recommended for navigating these two areas. There are switchbacks and ledges, but the trail is wide enough to pass the entire way. The beginning of the trail has some bumpy washboard sections, and as you go further, you will encounter some rock garden sections. You will have amazing views of the North Cascade Mountains, surrounding peaks, and of the valley towards Mazama. Mazama is the closest town for services and supplies, approximately 25 minutes away. Cell phone service was weak, but enough to get a message out here and there. There are no amenities along this trail, so travel prepared.
