Trail Overview

FS 2160 is an easy, well-maintained high-clearance Forest Service road consisting mostly of hardpack dirt. Before you turn onto the trail from the 101, there is a dispersed camping spot. The route is wide and travels through dense forest, with thick trees lining both sides for much of the drive. There are few significant obstacles aside from several potholes, and a couple of pullouts along the way provide opportunities for dispersed camping where permitted. Roughly 90% of the trail remains mellow and straightforward. Near the end, a fallen tree blocks passage for full-size 4x4 vehicles, although smaller vehicles may be able to continue farther. Approximately 50 yards beyond the fallen tree, a washout makes the road impassable to all vehicles. The road’s primary challenge is its current end-of-route obstruction rather than technical terrain. Legal vehicle designation: FS High Clearance Vehicles.

Difficulty

Easy. The fallen tree and washout are important current-condition obstacles, but they don't make the underlying road technically difficult.
