Trail Overview

This is a gravel-based forest road that climbs from the Black Canyon Sno Park off Highway 153 to FS 8020. The trail climbs over 3,800 feet and is narrow with room to pass, and sections are rough with washboard. There are some ledges with moderate drop-offs, but any vehicle type should have no issue on this trail. The lower half of this trail offers dense forest views, but from higher up on the trail, you will have expansive views of the surrounding peaks. There are no amenities along the trail other than the vault toilet at the Sno Park, and cell phone service is weak, so you will need to travel prepared. The town of Twisp, Washington, is approximately 20 miles northwest on Highway 153 and is the closest location for services and supplies.
