Trail Overview

The Grade is a seasonal trail located in the Jefferson National Forest. It's a basic gravel forest service road that runs near Potts Mountain Jeep Trail. The upper part of the trail is in the national children's forest, which is dedicated to the children who helped replant the forest after a wildfire in the 1970s. The trail is primarily gravel and can be traveled with any vehicle that has sufficient ground clearance. During the snow, the trail can be more difficult, and 4WD will be needed. The trail is only open in fall and winter, and as such, the sights are typical of the area in that time of year.
