Trail Overview

Old Railroad is a well-maintained gravel trail that lives up to its name, following an old rail line that has been converted into a gravel road. The route provides a unique combination of history, scenery, and recreation as it travels through the surrounding countryside. Along the trail, users have access to the Craig Creek Recreation Area and will also have the opportunity to cross an old wooden railroad trestle spanning Craig Creek. The trestle adds a unique historical feature to the route and provides a great opportunity to stop and take in the surroundings. At the end of the trail opposite the recreation area, users have the option to attempt a river ford. The crossing averages around 15 inches in depth but can reach nearly 20 inches, making it unsuitable for low- to mid-clearance vehicles. Users who do not wish to ford the creek can simply turn around and enjoy Old Railroad as an out-and-back route.
