The road was just grated smoothing out the potholes that were there before. But between that and how dry it’s been it’s very dusty. Gravel is slightly loose in some areas but really any car can drive this.

Easiest part of this area. Pretty well maintained gravel road. Wide enough for trucks to pass. Lots of camping pull offs, which many people seemed to be enjoying this weekend. Not very dusty which was nice.

Road was easy up to the AT. Nearly all campsites along the Piney River were already taken but we got one of the last at the top past the bridge. Great time away as always.

Quite a few people setting up for dispersed camping already and a few trout fisherman along the way. Otherwise in good shape, no obstructions.

Lovely wet day. Only saw one other vehicle. Wet but nice. Water rushing fast and beautiful.

Really relaxed easy ride. First time out on Big Piney, open your windows and enjoy the sound of the water in a number of places! You definitely don’t need 4WD. We had maybe encountered four or five other trucks on the road, so take it slow around some blind corners. There’s plenty of places to pull to the side to let someone by safely. It’s a quick and beautiful trip, I would consider exploring the other trails that connect to Big Piney, otherwise if you’re coming from the DC area it might feel like you could have chosen other fire roads. However. I enjoyed Big Piney very much.

Took it from east to west, ending at Coffeytown Rd. Lots of camping sites filled with fall foliage and everyone waved as we went by. It’s in great shape. Nice trail with overlooks if you follow the AT at Salt Log Gap toward Hog Camp and Mount Pleasant. There’s a small parking area at the intersection of Wiggins Springs Rd

A very scenic, easy trail with a lot of great water-front camping. A lot of large camp spots for large groups of people. Also great for a day trip.

Great easy trail, very scenic. Will definitely go again especially in the fall when all the trees are turned. Maintained very well.

Little wet got some hail but the pornstar did a great job getting it! Time to get some AT tires. Good for a sedan with 5.5in of clearance 😂
