Trail Overview

The .07 miles loop of Mineral Fork Road is a steady climb into Big Cottonwood Canyon's mining history that takes you to the historic Wasatch Mine. The trail surface consists of loose rock, ruts, narrow shelf sections, and a couple of shallow water crossings, making this specific route suitable only for dirt bikes and ATVs. As you ride through the terrain, you will pass through aspen groves and pine trees with clear views of the glaciated valley, occasionally spotting local wildlife like moose or mountain goats. At the end of the track, you can view the old tailings and relics left over from the Wasatch Mine. Keep in mind that there is no cell service along the route, and because this area is a protected Salt Lake City watershed, dogs are strictly prohibited at all times.

This is a moderate trail for ATV but a bit more difficult for dirt bikes as there are a lot of loose rocks along marginally steep inclines. It’s a beautiful ride but will likely only do once a year as it is more exertion riding than fun riding. On my dirt bike, spent a lot of time in 1st gear going across rock gardens with loose boulders.
