Trail Overview

North Pasture Trail is a scenic route located within HPW Ranch, a private off-road ranch in the Texas Hill Country. The trail winds through rolling terrain with a mix of gradual climbs and descents while offering beautiful views along the way. One of the highlights of the route is Hilltop Camp, one of the premier campsites on the ranch. Perched on higher ground, the campsite overlooks the surrounding Hill Country and provides an excellent place to camp or simply take in the scenery.

Difficulty

This trail features a mix of dirt, gravel, and rocky terrain with several uphill and downhill sections. Some of the climbs include larger rocks, deep ruts, and slight off-camber sections that require careful tire placement. These obstacles can become more challenging after rain, especially where loose rock and ruts reduce traction. A high-clearance 4x4 is strongly recommended, particularly for navigating the rockier climbs. Drivers should be prepared for uneven terrain and changing trail conditions throughout the route. Overall, North Pasture Trail is a moderate trail that combines enjoyable technical driving with some of the best scenery and camping opportunities on the ranch.
