Trail Overview

Drifter (V16) is an extreme rock-crawling trail inside Escondido Draw Recreation Area, located near Bounty Hill. The route climbs through rugged West Texas terrain filled with large boulders, exposed rock, and technical obstacles that require careful line selection throughout the trail. Drifter is designed for purpose-built rock crawlers and experienced drivers looking for some of the more challenging terrain within the park. As the trail gains elevation, drivers are rewarded with impressive views overlooking Escondido Draw and the surrounding landscape.

Difficulty

Drifter (V16) is an extreme rock-crawling trail with steep, rocky terrain, large boulders, and technical obstacles that require precise tire placement. Purpose-built rock crawlers with low-range gearing, high ground clearance, extensive vehicle protection, and proper recovery equipment are strongly recommended. Experienced drivers and spotters are recommended, and stock or lightly modified vehicles should not attempt this trail.
