Trail Overview

This trail takes you across the Cumberland Plateau. There are several tight sections through brush, as well as sections of open grasslands. The trail also has red clay mud sections and rocky ledges, with the worst areas having a bypass. There are a lot of side trails to explore. The entrance has a wooden bridge with a 3 ton limit and an unimproved creek ford bypass. The trail exits through private property to a paved public road. Cell service in the area is limited. Camping and travel from sun down to sun up is prohibited.

A mile into the eastern end (Roe Carter) had 2 to 3 foot, trail width mud holes with silty bottoms and no dry edges.

Right before loop, there was a mud/water hole 3’+ feet deep, very slippery mud.

Coming from the Harriman side we made it to the main mud holes before the main loop. They were too deep for 37s. And a 6 inch lift.

Trail was extremely washed with areas of water over 3 feet deep with no bypasses. Other than the deep water trail was rough, but definitely doable with high clearance.

It was raining when we went. Only hard part was two mud pits. Seemed too deep to go through (32-36") with our rigs. So took bypass. Had to winch a couple through the bypass due to mechanical issues. Brush on trail midway was a bit tight (photo). We may have made it through the mud pit, but didn't want to start off my trip with water in the engine or in the cab. Oh, and we rescued a drunk chick that was stuck in a hole driving a full size chevy truck that only had 2WD. Good times.

Lots of rocks. VERY VERY deep mud/water holes. Lots of craters. Not meant for stock or low clearance.
