Trail Overview

Trail 27- Kener Gap begins at the Rock Solid Pavilion at the end of Trail 26. This trail is much like its counterpart, but does not boast as many rock step formations. Expect more dirt roads with ruts and a minor rock bulge from the side of the trail. Water does quickly run off the mountain, and has mandatory water crossings to enter or exit the trail. Windrock Park would consider this trail a blue, but can be considered an easy blue.

Difficulty

Mountain water run off and creek levels will ultimately determine the level of difficulty on this trail but is still an easy pleasant ride for those looking to step up from green or gravel trails.

Not a Green! This is updated do Blue as the pack declare! App need to be update, my 4 inch and 35, make but less then that, we will get stuck between this trail!

The beginning of the trail starting from the rock solid picnic area has areas that are mildly difficult with deep 2’ 4’ ruts and very sticky slick mud. Doing this in anything with smaller than 30” tires is difficult.

Extremely muddy and very difficult after rain. Was in jeep and side by sides struggled. Had to winch up one part closer to trail 26 and the pavilion. I came up the trail and it was not an easy go. On 2.5in lift and 35s

Very beginning of trail where it meets up with Trail 26 is very steep and requires some “oomph.” Next section was very steep and wet. We got stuck and needed our winch to pull ourselves out. The remainder of the trail was great. Some spots needed some slower movements but otherwise, lots of fun!

Front half of the trail is rated properly on OnX at a 3. But the back half of the trail near the intersection with 31 is very badly deteriorated with extreme ruts and was a complete mud pit with no rocks underneath. One section going down to 31 would be impassable if you were to try to return from 31 back up 27. Your only outlet would be to continue to 31 and then to HWY 116.
