Trail Overview
Vaca Loop is a 2.3-mile loop trail that can be run in either direction. The route follows a dirt road with some decent-sized potholes, embedded rock, and mild brush encroachment in narrower sections. The trail is generally straightforward, with a mix of smoother sections and rougher patches throughout the loop. An Oregon State ATV operating permit is required for all vehicles within the Mount Emily Recreation Area. The trail is open year-round; however, management requests that trails not be used when mud sticks to tires.
Difficulty
Vaca Loop is generally an easier trail, with the primary challenges being occasional potholes, embedded rock, and mild brush encroachment in narrower sections. Most obstacles are minor, though the uneven surface can make for a rougher ride in spots. The trail is suitable for most riders and machines allowed within MERA. Conditions become more difficult when wet, and riders should avoid using the trail when mud sticks to tires.
