Trail Overview

La Dee Flats is an accessible off-road route ideal for beginners and seasoned explorers alike, offering a scenic gateway to a vast network of four-wheel-drive and ATV trails. Running approximately 4.3 miles, this route provides an easy-to-moderate drive through dense Pacific Northwest forest, with elevations ranging from 2,378 feet to 3,238 feet. The main road is primarily gravel, featuring numerous potholes and mild ruts that increase in frequency as the route progresses. While standard high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles, SxSs, and ATVs can easily navigate the trail during dry conditions, winter completely transforms the landscape. Heavy snowfall frequently blankets the area, raising the difficulty and creating a premier destination for snow wheeling enthusiasts. This route is rated a 3 out of 10, indicating a relatively mild technical challenge under normal circumstances, though operators should remain cautious of deep ruts and changing weather conditions. Navigating the trail entails an overall elevation loss of roughly 858 feet, starting higher up and winding downward through the evergreen canopy. The area is highly versatile, making it easy to spend a full day exploring the numerous spur trails that branch off the main corridor. To reach the trailhead, access Abbott Road from Highway 224, directly across from the Promontory Boat Ramp, and follow Abbott Road until reaching La Dee Flats Road.

Downed Tree
Trail was smooth sailing although at thr very end before the spur roads there is a downed tree blocking any further progress. Tight fit for a tacoma, a full size truck on this path is qurstionable and would have no place to turn around at the downed tree!
