Trail Overview
This is a dirt based forest road that leads to the Jefferson Lake hiking trail head. The first section of this trail is narrow and one vehicle wide with some rocks and tree roots sticking up on the trail, and the second portion is wide enough for two vehicles with some washboard areas and minor ruts/wash. You will have great views of Mt Jefferson, the surrounding ridges, and of the old lava flows in the valley. The forest is cleared and old burn evidence still remains, and there are many dispersed campsites along the way as camping is allowed the entire length of this trail. Cell phone service was weak and there are no amenities along the trail so travel prepared as the nearest services are approximately 45 minutes from the start of this trail. Any vehicle type could traverse this trail.
