Trail Overview

The trail travels from US-20 to Island and Link Lakes through a variety of forests of scrub and young pines and occasional patches of old mature pines. The trail is mostly one vehicle wide with occasional opportunities to pull over every 1/4 mile or so. There are a few dispersed campsites near each of the lakes. Visiting in late June, there were a minimal amount of misquotes and insects.

As a novice I found the trail to be fun. Dry and dusty all the way. A lot of loose gravel and dust. We only went to Island Lake and the trail was ruts and dust with what I as a novice would call difficult. My Ranger had no issues with this trail.
