Trail Overview

This trail is a beautiful mountain route that follows along the base of the mountain before climbing steadily into higher elevations. Near the beginning, the trail passes alongside the Klamath Marsh National Wildlife Refuge, where an open gate marks the entrance area. Please respect all refuge boundaries and regulations. As the trail climbs, the surface changes to red gravel with heavy corrugation before eventually transitioning back into sandy sections along the plateau. Fallen trees and protruding branches are present in areas, so carrying recovery tools such as a chainsaw or winch is recommended. The trail passes through a beautiful pine forest with soft ground and occasional exposed rocks along the route.
