This scenic trail begins as a wide, well-maintained forest road before narrowing as it passes alongside marshland and climbs into the surrounding mountains. The route then opens once again through attractive stands of forest and remains easy to follow throughout. As of July 2026, much of the northern section had recently been graded, particularly on the downhill portions where heavy traffic had previously created corrugation. The improved surface makes for a much smoother and safer drive. Numerous side trails and spur roads branch from the main route, providing plenty of opportunities for further exploration. There are also many excellent dispersed camping locations throughout the area, making this an enjoyable access road for exploring the surrounding trail network.
