Trail Overview
This beautiful forest trail is well maintained but remains relatively narrow as it winds through dense stands of spruce and fir. If approaching from the Jackson Creek/Buckeye Creek side, the route is mostly downhill. From the Falcon Creek Campground side, however, it is a continuous climb for roughly 2.3 miles. The road has been cleared of most major debris, although several fallen trees remain in or alongside the trail. Most can be driven around or over, but some trunks and broken branches still protrude into the roadway, so use caution around corners to avoid vehicle or tire damage. The trail is single lane for much of its length, with overhanging vegetation making pinstriping likely for wider vehicles. Drivers approaching from the north toward Falcon Creek Campground should take extra care on the descent, as sections of corrugation occur on corners where maintaining control is especially important. A few potholes, particularly in shaded areas, and patches of long grass also line the route, but they present only minor obstacles. The lush evergreen forest makes this one of the more scenic drives in the area.
Difficulty
Narrow single-lane sections, fallen tree debris, and corrugated corners are the main challenges on this trail.
