FS 1040

This is a dirt-based forest road with minor ruts and washouts under a foot. The trail is narrow with room to pass, and there is a lot of loose rock on the trail and a rock step approximately a foot tall. The trail has some overgrown vegetation, but overall this trail is easy and suitable for any vehicle type. Camping is allowed along this entire trail with a couple of pre-existing dispersed campsites. Cell service was decent along the trail, but there are no amenities. From the start of this trail, you are approximately 10 minutes from the town of Sisters, which has the nearest services and supplies.
