Trail Overview
Tucked away within the beautiful, densely shaded evergreen timber of the Willamette National Forest, Crescent Creek Road - FS 2067510 offers a highly scenic and dynamic backcountry journey. Branching directly off of the main Forest Service Road 2067, the entrance to this route is clearly marked by a classic brown vertical post displaying the 510 route number. Outdoor enthusiasts frequently utilize this peaceful, climbing drive to find remote dispersed camping spots, explore the dense woodland environment, or access the deeper backcountry surrounding the popular Crescent Mountain area. For much of the drive, the road gently parallels the flowing waters of Crescent Creek, eventually crossing over a small bridge before the landscape dramatically shifts. As you veer right and push higher up the mountain, the heavy tree canopy breaks open, revealing sprawling, brushy hillsides that offer wonderful views of the surrounding ridges before the final stretch becomes noticeably unmaintained and overgrown.
Difficulty
This is a transitioning out-and-back dirt and gravel spur that begins as a smooth, hard-packed road but becomes distinctly rougher as you climb. While the lower sections are exceptionally easy to navigate, the steeper upper ascent features uneven terrain, notable rain ruts carved by water runoff, and scattered loose boulders less than a foot in size. Although specialized four-wheel-drive systems are not required to complete the journey under normal seasonal conditions, you will need to carefully pick your lines through the eroded washouts and significantly reduce your speed over the loose rocks to comfortably protect your undercarriage, especially during the brushy, unmaintained final 0.25 miles.
