Trail Overview

This trail starts off Highway 101 from the west end. It is narrow most of the way and starts off paved, then turns into gravel when you enter the National Forest. This is a beautiful, dense forest trail running inland from the Oregon coast. It also features some cliffs along the trail. It gets steep after the gravel starts and can even get to around a 20-degree slope, which, in turn, features a steep grade back down in elevation. You will incline all the way up to about 1,150 feet at the peak and then start declining back to the Oregon Coast Trail to Sea Lion Caves. There are some nice dispersed camp spots off the trail. 4WD for steep grades is highly recommended, especially when wet.

Typical forest/logging road, my stock forester handled it just fine. Road was wet from the ongoing storm but no mud. Not sure why this is rated 4/10, 1/10 would be more accurate.

This trail is no different from the Oregon coast trail and SHOULD NOT BE RATED A 4/10 Very easy trail and again could likely be passed through in your grandmas minivan. 1/10 rating, no clue why someone rated it a 4
