Trail Overview

Andy Creek is an inviting forest route perfect for scenic drivers, overlanders, and OHV enthusiasts looking to escape the crowded tourist hubs of the Oregon Coast. This easy-going gravel corridor connects Sand Lake Road to the elevated ridges near Buzzard Butte, offering a peaceful alternative to the nearby paved highways. The primary surface is composed of gravel, making it highly accessible for stock SUVs, SxSs, and four-wheel drive vehicles. As the road winds upward through the lush coastal forest, drivers will experience gentle climbs, occasional washboards, and narrow stretches that require moderate caution when encountering oncoming traffic. Along the main route and its branching spur roads, travelers can find several primitive, dispersed camping spots that offer a secluded overnight stay amidst the dense pines. While the trail is easily traversable during the warm, dry months of summer and early fall, seasonal changes bring significant challenges. The route is entirely unmaintained during the winter, meaning deep snow, accumulation of mud, and heavy washouts can make passage impossible. Coastal storms frequently down large trees across the road, making a chainsaw and recovery gear essential equipment when exploring the area outside of the peak summer season.
