Trail Overview
New Hanover Road is located within the eastern portion of the Boiling Spring Lakes Preserve trail network and begins just inside the entrance to the area. When entering from the main road, the trail runs from right to left and initially appears as a narrow, overgrown two-track. As users continue, the character of the trail changes considerably, transitioning into a wide, well-defined dirt and gravel road where travel can become much faster-paced. At the time of mapping, New Hanover Road was free from major obstacles and offered easy travel throughout its length. Users should still remain aware of changing coastal conditions, particularly following periods of heavy rainfall. Overall, this route provides an easy and enjoyable connection through the eastern BSLP network while offering a nice mixture of tighter two-track and wider gravel-road driving.
