Trail Overview
Hunters Road is another lightly traveled and overgrown two-track within the Boiling Spring Lakes Preserve trail network. The trail has enough room in several areas for users to turn around should conditions ahead become uncomfortable or impassable. At the time of mapping, Hunters Road was mostly free from major obstacles and offered relatively straightforward travel despite the vegetation growing along the trail. As with many of the coastal trails in this network, however, conditions can change considerably following periods of wet weather. The sandy and muddy surface can quickly develop deep mud holes that may present a significant challenge for lower-clearance or less-capable vehicles. Users exploring after heavy rainfall should use caution, check questionable mud holes before entering, and carry appropriate recovery equipment in case conditions deteriorate farther along the trail.
