Trail Overview
Green Gap (FS 6584) is a standard Forest Service road providing access to the southern end of Uwharrie National Forest and the south side of Dickey Bell (FS 91). Notably, this entrance of Dickey Bell is the closest access point to the popular hill climb portion. In addition to providing access to Forest Service land, the trail leads to a small community located just beyond its end. The trail is generally well-maintained and highly accessible, featuring minimal obstacles aside from minor ruts, small rocks, and occasional fallen debris, making it a straightforward drive for most high-clearance vehicles. The trail is open year-round despite OHV trails being closed from December 15 to April 1.
Difficulty
The trail is a standard, wide, Forest Service road with the only challenges being the occasional rut. If you narrow sections may be present, making passing other vehicles difficult; however, it is still manageable. Some caution should still be taken due to possible oncoming vehicles, blind corners, or unexpected debris.
