Trail Overview
The Knob is a short spur off of Agua Piedra Trail that climbs up to a great overlook of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, making a great lunch spot. The route is 1 mile each way and will be ridden as an out-and-back, making a short and worthwhile detour from your ride. It climbs up from a grassy saddle at the intersection with Agua Piedra Trail, and is steep and rocky right away. The trail is covered in a layer of small and big loose rocks that can ping you around. The steepest section is right away, and it gains over 300 feet in elevation throughout the 1-mile climb. It also goes through a faint grassy section midway up with fewer rocks. This trail is open to motorized use from 3/15 to 11/15.
Difficulty
This trail is moderately easy. It’s not overly difficult, and there aren’t any major rock ledges, but the ruts and loose rocks make it more technical and better suited for more experienced riders. It’s a short route that is more beginner-friendly than the surrounding trails, but you still have to take all intermediate routes to get here.
