Trail Overview
FS 195M is a fun and challenging dirt bike trail in the Elephant Rock trail system near Questa, New Mexico. Out of all of the trails in the system, this one feels most like a single track, as it is narrower. Like most of the trails in the system, it is an old mining shelf road, but it is very narrow as it curves around the mountain sides. The southern half is more gradual and flowy as it follows the hillside. Then, it side-hills in a couple of exposed spots where the slope is steep and sloughs off on the side of the trail. It has one very steep climb (when riding from south to north) with loose rocks that will require maintaining some speed and momentum. It has a couple of big hairpin turns and a few downed logs that have been cut. The trail is signed on both ends and marked as Most Difficult in the trail system. There are lots of tracks to follow. It gains almost 900 feet in 1.4 miles, but most of the steepness is in the northern half of the trail.
Difficulty
This is an intermediate route due to a couple narrow and exposed spots in the southern half of the trail, and a steep climb in the northern half of the trail. The climb is steep and loose and will require maintaining momentum.
