Trail Overview
This singletrack trail connects Howard Creek Road to Wagon Mountain Road in the Lolo National Forest. I travelled this trail by starting at the top, where it begins off Wagon Mountain Road. There is no trail sign at the start, but the singletrack is visible as it climbs the hillside on the south side of Wagon Mountain Road. The first section has a nice flow, and you quickly reach a junction where the trail turns right and starts a steeper descent towards the valley below. This junction has a sign indicating the North Fork Howard Trail 322 continues to the right. The middle section of the trail has steeper pitches and more loose rock than the first section, but it is not technically difficult. About halfway down the trail, you reach another junction where again, the official trail takes a sharp right and heads towards the Howard Creek drainage. This section also has nice flow and good dirt, but is much tighter due to thicker vegetation. The single track eventually turns to double track and then to a single-lane forest road before getting to Howard Creek Road.
