Trail Overview
Profiled Spur is an easy, scenic out-and-back trail perfect for novice offroaders, SxSs, and high-clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles seeking panoramic ridgeline views of the surrounding valleys and mountain ranges. Spanning approximately 1.5 miles, this route climbs gently from an elevation of 4,600 feet to just over 4,740 feet, making it a leisurely drive with less than 160 feet of total elevation gain. The trail consists primarily of a dirt two-track surface that winds through dense forest before opening up along the ridge. Because of its mild terrain and low technical rating of 2, most stock four-wheel-drive vehicles can navigate the trail with ease, making it a highly accessible option for a quick mountain excursion.
As the route progresses toward its end, the trail becomes increasingly narrow, and overhanging brush may cause minor paint scratches or pinstriping on full-size rigs. Larger trucks and SUVs should utilize the small fire ring pullout near the end of the spur to turn around, as space is extremely limited further down and may require reversing. While there are no established campsites along the route other than basic pullouts, the area offers excellent opportunities for day-use rest stops and photography. Visitors should prepare for a self-sufficient trip, as there is no cellular service along the ridge, and ensure their vehicles are equipped to handle the tight clearances of this forested mountain route.
