Trail Overview
W 8 Trail is a short bidirectional trail within the Cadillac Forest Management Unit. Located just off West 8 Road in either direction, this trail is easily accessible. Starting out, you'll begin on a very overgrown two-track dirt trail that is mostly covered with leaves. As you continue down the trail, it opens up a bit with expansive views of the surrounding forest. However, do not let that fool you as it goes straight back into an overgrown section that is definitely not for anyone afraid to get those dreaded Michigan pinstripes. Although the trail surface consists mostly of dirt, it's nothing difficult to deal with. Dropping tire pressure won't be needed for this surface other than for user preference. PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! As you weave along the trail, you may come across some washouts and/or mud holes. These typically aren't bad, but something to be noted. This is a trail that should be taken slowly to ensure you can take in its beauty. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come prepared. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. The end of the trail finishes back at West 8 Road where you can continue your adventure and explore whatever's next.
