Trail Overview
3 Powerline Trail is an out-and-back trail within the Cadillac Forest Management Unit. Located off N 3 Trail, this trail is easily accessible. Most of the trail is a combination of dirt and sand. Starting, the forest is more dense, with a lot of overgrowth alongside the trail. Shortly after, you'll twist and turn as the trail becomes more of a dirt/sand surface with a ton of overhanging trees. This is where you'll be greeted by an awe-inspiring section that makes it seem like you are about to enter Jurassic Park. It's incredible to see such amazing and beautiful nature in our national forests. As you continue traversing, the trail narrows again with more overgrowth before the finish. This trail ends at the powerline area, but it's not advised to travel along it. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause downed trees, washouts, & mud holes. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. The northern end of this trail finishes at County Road, where the trail ends with a lot of really soft and loose sand. This is not a difficult trail at all, but still contains lots of fun with plenty of scenic views.
