Trail Overview
8.6-1/2 Trail is a beautiful bidirectional trail within the Cadillac Forest Management Unit. Located between 3 Road and West 8 Road, this trail is easily accessible. Starting, you'll begin on a mostly sandy two-track in a clearing of the forest. As you navigate down the trail, you'll enter a thick stand of trees that makes you feel like you just traveled to a completely different trail. Here the trail narrows with a fair amount of overgrowth. There is also an active oil field along this route, so be respectful of that and stay away. You may observe from afar, but be polite and do not trespass! PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! As you weave along the trail, you may come across some washouts and/or mud holes. These typically aren't bad, but something to be noted. Like most of Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come prepared. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. This is not a difficult trail, but it contains a lot of beauty and gives access to other great recreation. Regardless of the length or conditions, this is a great trail!
