Trail Overview
Red Pine Alley Trail is a beautiful bidirectional off-road trail located within the Traverse City Forest Management Unit just southwest of Copemish. From the west end, the trail starts in a really grassy section. This route outlines a gorgeous square of Red Pine Trees that tower above. The track is wide open until you hit the first corner. This is where the tight trees and overgrowth begin. It can be very dense here at times, so use caution. The trail opens up a bit at the next corner. There's still a fair amount of overgrowth along the backside of the trail heading south, but it's definitely less than the northern straightaway section. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. The route finishes back at Healy-Henry N Trail. Be sure to enjoy the wondrous landscape this trail offers and always be on the lookout for wildlife. This is a great place for wildlife viewing. There aren't any notable obstacles along this trail, but the dense forest is something to keep in mind.
