Trail Overview
Healy-Henry South Trail is a seasonal bidirectional trail within the Traverse City Forest Management Unit just southwest of the town of Copemish. Starting on the northeast end at Henry Road/Glovers Lake Road, you'll begin in a dense portion of the forest lined with Red Pines and Northern Hardwood Trees. As you navigate down the trail, you may encounter a large mud hole depending on recent conditions. Shortly after, the trail transitions more into a sandy track lined with grass as you weave through this gorgeous section of the forest. PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come prepared. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. This route does have a fair amount of overgrowth, but nothing too terrible, especially compared to other trails in the area. However, still something to consider. This is not a difficult trail at all, but it contains a lot of beauty and gives access to other great trails nearby. The southwest end of the trail finishes at Healy Lake Road. Regardless of the length or conditions, this is an awesome trail!
