Trail Overview
Healy-Henry North Trail is a seasonal bidirectional trail located just southwest of the town of Copemish within the Traverse City Forest Management Unit. Starting on the northwest end at Healy Lake Road, you'll begin on a sandy, gravelly dirt two-track. As you navigate down the trail, you'll be greeted by some breathtaking views of some of Michigan's finest towering Red Pine Trees. Shortly after, the trail narrows with trees lining both sides tightly. PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY, and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! As you weave along the trail, you may come across some washouts and/or mud holes. This is a trail that should be taken slowly to ensure you can take in its beauty. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause unfavorable conditions on the trail, including downed trees, mud holes, and washouts. Come prepared. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. There are a few sections with some soft sand. Overall, this is not a difficult trail, but it contains a lot of beauty and gives access to other great trails nearby. The southeast end of the trail finishes at Henry Road. Regardless of the conditions, this is an incredible trail!
