Trail Overview

FS 8023 is a bidirectional trail within the Manistee National Forest. Located either off FS 5000 or FS 8019, this trail is easily accessible. There are a ton of trails right within this trail system, so make the most of your adventure and combine a bunch of them together! Most of this trail is a combination of dirt and sand. Starting out, you'll twist and turn as the trail becomes more rutted in certain areas. As you continue traversing, you'll be rewarded with exquisite views of a section of the forest with views as far as the eye can see. Like most Michigan trails, conditions are dependent on the weather. Recent rainfall can cause downed trees, washouts, & mud holes. Most of this trail is only wide enough for 1 vehicle with limited places to pass. We did camp along this trail in a pretty wide open field, but it was very overgrown, so keep that in mind. As always, PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY and be respectful of our public lands so future generations can have access to these trails! This is not a difficult trail, but still contains lots of fun with plenty of scenic views. Regardless of the length or conditions, this is an epic trail everyone should experience!
